Automatic Load-Frequency Control Systems for Power Stations

Introducing Automatic Load-Frequency Control (ALFC) systems. This system automatically regulates active power of the power units, according to the tasks of the system operator or a centralized system and proportional reduction of the power in emergency modes.

Main function of the ALFC system is to provide participation of the power units in the automatic secondary regulation of power and frequency. Integration of the system into the centralized systems for power units regulation allows you to obtain a complete solution for control. Apart of providing data exchange between the systems, the ALFC system developed by our company provide automatic distribution of the task for power reduction among power units.

The system is based on the REGUL R600 PLC, processing emergency and control commands and providing simultaneous cyclical two-way data exchange over main and backup communication channels between central regulation system and control systems of power units.

For data collection and archiving are used industrial servers with the installed SCADA package InduSoft Web Studio 8.0. Local control is made with operator workstation, displaying current and archive data, diagnostic data for the system. To provide stable operation of the system, cabinets are equipped surge protection devices, thermal regulation system, power supply from different sources.

First systems for two thermal power plants were supplied at the end of 2017 and are planned to be put into operation by the end of 2018.
